?Go for Zucker?! (Alles auf Zucker), a sweet-natured, irreverent comedy about contemporary Jewish life in Germany, swept the German Film Prize on Friday, winning 6 of 10 awards for which it was nominated. The film, which follows two brothers- one an Orthodox Jew, the other secular- raised on opposite sides of the Berlin Wall who are forced to reconcile when their mother dies, won awards for best film, best director, and best actor, among other honors. Alles auf Zucker, said to be the first Jewish comedy to be produced in Germany since World War II, beat Der Untergang (Downfall), a grim chronicle of Hitler?s final days, for best film. ?I just beat Hitler!,? said Henry Huebchen after he won best actor prize over Bruno Ganz, whose portrayal of the Nazi leader was widely praised.? - The New York Times
?Modern German cinema finally gets its first all-out Jewish laugher in Go for Zucker: An Unorthodox Comedy, a pacey, politically incorrect but good-natured entertainment. Huebchen and Elsner are aces as the likable gamble and his long-suffering wife.? - Variety
