The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health will host Caroline M. Clancy, director, of the Agency for Healthcare and Quality (AHRQ), for Grand Rounds on Friday, February 12 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Clinical Research Building, conference room 989. Clancy's presentation will address current trends and pressures shaping the health care delivery system and discuss how research will transform 21st-century health care into an information-rich, patient-focused enterprise. AHRQ, the lead federal agency charged with improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans, has an annual budget of $372 million, of which approximately 80 percent is invested in grants and contracts focused on improving health. In 2009, Clancy was chosen as the most powerful physician-executive by the readers of Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines.
