New Student Orientation
Congratulations on becoming part of the University of Miami community! Orientation is a time of celebration and new beginnings. Here are a few things to know about our New Student Orientation programs:
- All new undergraduate students (first-year and transfer) are strongly encouraged to fully participate in the New Student Orientation program.
- There is no pre-registration required for the New Student Orientation program, just be sure to check-in when you arrive on campus during one of the specified times.
- The New Student Orientation schedules are developed throughout the semester, though we seek to provide you with basic information on-line as early as possible to assist you and your family with travel arrangements. Please note that the information will change periodically as the schedule is updated.
- All of our communication is electronic, so please be on the lookout for emails from our department with the information regarding New Student Orientation. You will receive a complete schedule when you arrive on campus. Typically, we email students attending Fall Orientation in June along with a follow-up email in early August. The Spring Orientation information is updated on-line in October and emailed in December.
- You should also expect to be contacted by your Orientation Fellow, our student volunteers, in the weeks prior to the start of orientation. They will be your connection to UM to help answer any last minute questions you might have before arriving.
