More than two hundred academic, administrative, and support services departments employ students in various capacities at UM. In addition, many local businesses hire students for part-time work in locations throughout South Florida. Most University departments and local businesses do their own interviewing, selecting and hiring. 

Hiring for a particular position is based on who can best do the job. However, other considerations such as availability, academic requirements, etc. may also affect the employment decision. Students are ultimately responsible for their own employment. As with any employment application situation, demonstrating previous work experience, job skills, motivation, and willingess to learn will help.
