On-site employees of contractors of the University of Miami are eligible to attend classes as provided by the Program Educational Policy Guidelines.
Courses
Classes are taught in English and Spanish.
Instructor-led Courses:
Introduction to PC/Windows
Pre-requisites: None
This class introduces the user to the basics of computers using the Windows XP Operating system. Participants will learn about basic computer hardware (mouse, hard drive, diskette, CD), and basic Windows XP functions.
Introduction to the Web
Pre-requisites: Introduction to PC/Windows
This class introduces the user to the basics of browsing the Internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Participants will learn how to browse through the Internet, use Favorites and History, and customize Internet Explorer.
Introduction to MS Outlook
Pre-requisites: Basic computer skills (knowledge of basic mouse skills, double clicking, using toolbars, Introduction to PC/Windows
This class introduces the user to the basics of the email and information management program Microsoft Outlook. Topics include: using Outlook messaging, scheduling with the calendar, managing contacts, and working with tasks.
Introduction to MS Word
Pre-requisites: Knowledge of PC's and use of Mouse
This class introduces the user to word processing using MS Word. Learn to: enter text, create and save documents, modify working views, use text features such as delete, copy, and paste, and other important features that will enable you to format and print documents.
MS Word Intermediate
Pre-requisites: Basic computer skills and completion of Introduction to MS Word or previous experience using the application at a basic level
This class covers introductory and intermediate topics of the word processor application Microsoft Word. Topics include: working with AutoFormat, working with tables, working with newspaper columns, using templates and wizards, and using Find and Replace.
Introduction to MS Excel
Pre-requisites: Knowledge of PC's and use of Mouse
This class introduces the user to the basics of MS Excel. Learn to: enter data and work with workbooks and worksheets, work with multiple cells (ranges), create simple formulas to calculate data between cells, copy, move data, print, and other important features that will help you enhance the appearance of your worksheet.
The Contractor Employee Enrichment Program offers a variety of on-site learning resources in language and computer skills. CD-ROM training programs are available for use in the training work area.
