Employee & Faculty Guide to Parking on the Coral Gables Campus
|
In preparation for the University of Miami's 2008/2009 academic year, we would like to take this opportunity to share some important dates and other important information regarding Parking & Transportation with you.
Current holders of all multi-year parking permits (UNIVERSITY, Preferred, & Reserved), which expire on August 15, 2009 (please see the expiration date on the face of your parking permit), are exempt from the application and renewal process this year.
All Faculty and Discount parking permits expire on August 15, 2008 (please see the expiration date on the face of your parking permit). Holders of these parking permits must apply for and purchase a new parking permit for the new academic year. Beginning July 1, 2008, annual Discount and Faculty permits are available on myUM.
The information contained herein is intended to provide you with basic parking and transportation information for the Coral Gables campus. For detailed information on the rules and regulations pertaining to parking on campus, please be sure to obtain a copy of the Moving Vehicle Parking Code. In order to avoid fines, towing, and possible disciplinary action, all vehicles on the Coral Gables campus must adhere to the policies as published in the Code. Familiarity with, and attention to, University of Miami's Moving Vehicle Parking Code is the most effective way of avoiding a parking citation.
All vehicles on campus must be registered with this department and are required to display a current and valid parking permit. Six letters identify parking lots on campus: C, R, FA, E, D, V. Parking permits are printed with the appropriate corresponding letter on the reverse side (facing the driver) for easy orientation on campus. Park vehicles in designated spaces within lots where the entrance signage includes the letter designator printed on your parking permit.
For details of the highly convenient and desirable payroll deduction option, please see 'Payroll deduction'. The University offers "pre-tax parking" again this year. By electing this option, your taxable income is reduced by the cost of the permit, resulting in a reduced tax exposure for you. All participants in payroll deduction are eligible.
Participants in the
Faculty and Discount parking permits may also be purchased with cash or check at the UM cashiers in the Ashe Building.
Faculty and Staff with a UM parking citation balance greater than $40.00 are prohibited from purchasing a parking permit until such balance is paid. Pay your balance with your credit card on myUM. Additionally, MasterCard and/or Visa credit card payment of fines is accepted at the Parking & Transportation Services offices, telephone 305.284.3096, option 1. Cash or check payment of fines is acceptable at the University Cashiers in the Ashe Building.
We are committed to serving you. If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
