The Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) submission program is a joint effort between the Graduate School and the University of Miami Libraries . An ETD takes your thesis or dissertation and stores it in a form that is suitable for machine archives and apt for worldwide retrieval.

The ETD provides a technologically advanced medium for expressing and disseminating your ideas. You prepare your ETD using a popular word processor or document preparation system(s), linking relevant multimedia objects, without the requirement to submit as many copies on paper. Moreover, ETDs are easier to access and distribute.

All graduating doctoral and master's students at UM are required to utilize the ETD service and publish an electronic copy of their dissertation.
