Cuban Studies

Faculty

Students in the Cuban Studies program will be assigned a faculty advisor to guide them throughout the semester.  For the summer 2009 semester, Dr. Andy Gomez will serve as the faculty advisors for Miami Semester students. He will also teach HIS353 and serve as the faculty contact for HIS451 - Directed Study/Internship.

Dr. Andy Gomez is the Associate Provost and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies at UM and is directing this special academic program. Dr. Gomez' research agenda focuses on the ideological and psychological reconstruction of human values and attitudes in a post-Castro Cuba.


Jaime Suchlicki is the Emilio Bacardi Moreau professor of History and Director of the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS).  He specializes in Latin American affairs, with special emphasis on Cuba, Mexico, and U.S. relations with the region. He will also serve as a faculty contact for the HIS451 - Directed Study/Internship.


Brian Latell is a senior research associate at the Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS).  He will also serve as a contact for HIS451 - Directed Study/Internship.
