Please check back for more information about F.L.A. Fall 2008.

Description of the Freshmen Leadership Academy (F.L.A.)
The F.L.A. is a program designed to position 50 incoming freshmen on the fast track to becoming a leader on campus through enhancing their first-year experience at the University of Miami. This semester-long intensive and interactive learning experience offers students opportunities for personal development, increasing their leadership potential and abilities. Main of the program include leadership seminars, workshops, individual reflections and a portfolio project to showcase their experiences in the program. Through a mix of cohort-based experiences and small group activities, participants will create lasting connections with other incoming and established leaders. Additionally, participants are exposed to an outdoor adventure leadership training. F.L.A. is approximately a 4-hour weekly commitment and counts toward the Emerging CANES Certificate and other Leadership Certificates. F.L.A. Fall 2007 seminars were held weekly on Mondays from 2:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. for 12 consecutive weeks.

Through an optional Phase II of the program, beginning in the Spring 2008 semester and leading into the following academic year, students have the opportunity to practically apply and implement their new knowledge and skills, as they prepare to serve as facilitators for future Freshmen Leadership Academies.
