Entrance Requirements

Enrolled Students:
Freshman and sophomores enrolled at the University of Miami may request entrance into the Honors Program if they have achieved a 3.500 or higher cumulative grade point average and have earned no more than 60 credits toward graduation. Students will be required to submit a resume and a letter stating why he/she would like to be a member of the program via e-mail to honorsprogram@miami.edu or mail to the Honors Program office, PO Box 248106, Building 21, Room Y, Coral Gables, FL 33124-5595.
Incoming Freshman:
Invitations to General Honors are typically extended to the entering class on the basis of their outstanding scholastic achievements in high school and their high scores on the college entrance examination.

*Note that minimum criteria are guidelines and that students meeting them are not guaranteed entrance into the General Honors Program. Please see the requirements above for enrolled students.
Transfer Students:
Transfer Students may request entrance into the Honors Program by meeting the following requirements:
1) Have no more than 60 credits total towards graduation;
2) Have a 3.500 cumulative grade point average or higher.
If a student meets these requirements, then he/she should contact the Honors Program Office located in Building 21-Y or telephone 305-284-5384. The Honors Program will request a copy of the student's application to the University of Miami from the Office of Admission for review and request the student to submit a resume and a letter stating why he/she would like to be a member of the program. After review of the material, students will be notified if they have been accepted into the Honors Program.
