Pre-Arrival Information
Dear International Student, Congratulations on your admission to the University of Miami! We at International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) are pleased that you have selected our University. While studying abroad is a challenging educational adventure, it can also be overwhelming at times. ISSS is here to assist you in any way that we can! Pre-arrival Information - On our website, we have included information you will need prior to arriving on campus. You will find information on academic advising and registration, entry to the U.S., applying for an F-1 visa, life in the U.S., student organizations, transfer student information, travel tips, and the International Student Orientation schedule. Mandatory International Student Orientation - ISSS conducts a mandatory orientation program for all new international Freshmen, graduate students, undergraduate and graduate transfer students, Miami semester students, and exchange students. (Exchange students are students who come to Miami under a special agreement between UM and their institutions.) Orientation will provide you with information and services you will need in order to be a successful student at the University of Miami. Topics covered include immigration requirements and benefits, academic requirements, health care, and campus and community resources. Plan to arrive in Miami no later than Tuesday, August 19, 2008. FALL 2008 INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE:
No later than one week after the start of classes, you must bring your passport, I-94 Form, and I-20 Form to the Department of International Student and Scholar Services, Building 21-F, Coral Gables Campus, to be photocopied for your file. We look forward to meeting you on August 19!
