UM recognizes what a difficult adjustment college life can be for your students. We provide a range of services on campus to make that transition a little easier:
askUM
Got a question? Search our mega FAQ website or ask an individual. askUM has your answer.
UMX
This unique, one-credit course will allow your students to connect with important contacts, learn more about what UM has to offer and form new friendships. Research shows that students who take UMX have a higher G.P.A., are more successful and have a more rewarding college experience.
Orientations
Our fall and spring orientations are designed to ease the transition for new students and their families. Attending Orientation is the single most important opportunity students have for getting started at the University.
Counseling Center
Incoming students may be dealing with issues from homesickness to time management. UM's on-campus Counseling Center offers a variety of services to students including short-term psychotherapy, individual and group, career and educational counseling. Staff consists of experienced professionals from the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and social work.
Center for Student Leadership
Centrally located in the University Center (UC), this center offers a variety of programs designed to develop the leadership competencies of students. These skills will assist student leaders as they assume leadership roles at the University, as well as in the workplace.
Ombudsperson’s Office
When issues arise, students may not know where to turn for help. Some common problems deal with registration, making payment arrangements, parking, housing and other University community related issues. UM has identified a group of troubleshooters and a University Ombudsperson to assist you.
Parent Connection
We've established a volunteer network of UM parents to share their experiences as a Hurricane family. They are available to answer questions, share their knowledge, and help prospective students' parents learn more about UM. Search by state for a local family.
