Costs and Finances
We have one of the nation’s most extensive and generous financial assistance
programs. Applying for admission to UM automatically places students in consideration
for scholarships. To be considered for need-based financial aid, students must
submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. State of
Florida residents have additional financial oportunities to help pay for
a private university education like UM, including the Florida Resident Access
Grant (FRAG), the Florida Student Assistance Grant,
Florida Bright Futures Scholarhips and tuition savings plans like the Florida
Prepaid College Plan. We also offer the Monthly Payment Plan, a pay-as-you-go
budgeting plan. And the University of Miami Tuition Stabilization Plan for
full-time students who
are not receiving financial aid allows prepayment of up to four years of tuition
at the current rate.
Scholarships
Every
student who applies for admission to the University is automatically considered
for
academic scholarships; there is no separate scholarship application
form or process. Approximately 50 percent of entering freshman earn an academic
scholarship from UM each year. UM academic scholarships reflect any increases
in tuition
costs while students are enrolled; if they receive a half-tuition award, that
award will always equal
half the tuition charges each year, even if tuition prices increase.
