To be considered for a University of Miami academic scholarship, simply complete and submit the Undergraduate Application for Admission. There is no separate application form or process to be considered for an academic scholarship. Please note that we do not have academic scholarships to award for Spring semester enrollment. You may submit your application at UM online, download an application or request one in the mail.

All general University scholarships are limited to the amount of a student's tuition, or net tuition after the addition of other scholarship or grant aid that is also restricted in whole or in part to the payment of tuition. If University scholarships, in conjunction with other awards, exceed tuition, the University award is adjusted downward until the values equal tuition. Also, in the event that University scholarship funds, in addition to other scholarship, grant, and/or stipend resources, exceed the total cost of attendance, the University scholarships are adjusted downward to ensure that total aid does not exceed the cost of attendance. For more information, please view our Freshman Academic Scholarships brochure.

REQUIREMENTS FOR UM Scholarship RENEWAL:

Scholarship recipients must complete a full-time program of study, that is, no fewer than 12 credit hours during each of the fall and spring semesters for a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year. The scholarship is automatically renewed for the second year. The University may, at its discretion, change the name and funding source of any awarded scholarship. This will not affect the amount of scholarship dollars a student will receive.

Please note: Always check with the Office of Financial Assistance Services when adding any awards from outside agencies to find out the full impact of such awards on your University financial aid award. Never assume that your original financial aid award will remain the same if such awards are added. We reserve the right to modify any financial aid award at any time due to changes in eligibility.

*Tuition costs listed are estimated for the 2008-2009 academic year. Frost School of Music applicants are not eligible to be considered for these awards. They undergo separate consideration for School of Music Scholarships which involves an individual audition.

**Students who meet the minimum criteria are not guaranteed a scholarship. Students are evaluated on their overall academic performance and are given priority consideration if all academic credentials are postmarked by January 15.
