Living off campus
Unlike new freshmen, transfer students are not required to live on-campus. If you choose to live off-campus you will likely find a variety of housing options in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove. You may also consider apartments in the suburb of Kendall where newer rental complexes with more amenities are available at attractive rates.
If you do choose to commute to campus, you'll probably need a car. But once on campus, UM provides ample study areas, television lounges and outdoor seating for studying and biding time between classes. The Office of Commuter Student Affairs and the Association of Commuter Students provide programs and activities to help you get involved outside of the classroom. They also maintain listings of off-campus housing opportunities to help you find the perfect "home away from home."
