Monbusho Research Scholarship

Criteria: Applicants must be university or college graduates. Applicants must be willing to study the Japanese language and to receive instruction in Japanese. Applicants must have no infectious diseases. Applicants must be able to leave for and arrive in Japan between the 1st and the 7th of April or between the 1st and the 7th of October.

AAJA-Newhouse National Scholarships

Criteria: Program welcomes applications from historically underrepresented Asian Pacific American groups, including Southeast Asians, South Asians, Koreans, Filipinos, and Pacific Islanders. Applicants may be graduating high school seniors who declare journalism as a major. May also be an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in journalism and a career in print journalism. Selection is based on scholastic ability, commitment to journalism, sensitivity to Asian American issues as demonstrated by community involvement, journalistic ability and financial need.

David Tamotsu Kagiwadwa Memorial Scholarship

Criteria:  Must be a theology Major and Asian American member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), preparing for the ordained ministry. Must prove financial need and have a minimum C+ average.

Grace Foundation Scholarship Fund

Criteria: Awarded to Southeast Asian students with the intent of providing service in one of the following areas: Christian Service, Health Care, Teaching, Theology or Welfare. Must speak English and have financial need. Minimum GPA: 3.0. Write to request application between September 1 and October 31. Include name, address, college (including the beginning date), intended course of study, statement of financial need, and a brief background of Christian testimony.

Henry and Chiyo Kuwahara Creative Arts Scholarships

Criteria: Applicants must be members or children of members of the Japanese American Citizens League interested in pursuing undergraduate or graduate education in the creative arts. Professional artists may not apply. Selection is based on academic record, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Preference is given to those students who are interested in creative projects that reflect the Japanese American experience and culture.

National Asian-American Journalists Association General Scholarships

Criteria: Awarded to Asian-Americans pursuing careers in journalism (print, photo, or broadcast). Award is based on academics, sensitivity to Asian American issues (as demonstrated by community involvement), and financial need. Must have at least a 2.9 GPA. National Institute of Health Scholarships

Criteria: Awarded to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Must demonstrate financial need or provide a statement indicating some other disadvantaged situation. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required. Recipients must serve as NIH employee for 10 weeks of the summer during the sponsored year, and 12 months for each year scholarship was received at Bethesda campus.

Society of Actuaries

Criteria:  Awarded to minority undergraduates interested in pursuing actuarial careers. US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Must have taken Exam 100 of the Actuarial Examinations, the SAT, the ACT, and must have demonstrated mathematical ability. Awarded on the basis of need and academic merit
