Who is required to have a parking permit?
Every vehicle must have the appropriate permit properly displayed at all times to park on the Coral Gables campus.
Effective fall 2008, first year resident students [students residing on the Coral Gables campus who are attending college on a full time basis for the first time] are restricted from purchasing a parking permit to park a vehicle on the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus. This policy applies to first year students living in
University Village residents’ parking permit applications and parking permits are available ONLY through the Department of Residence Halls leasing office.
Motorcycle permits (required for motocycles, mopeds, scooters) are available at the Parking & Transportation Services offices and at the Cashiers office. Complete a paper application at either location. Park in designated motorcycle areas.

Commuter Students: The commuter permit allows parking in lots on campus identified by the letters seen above. These lots are located near the academic areas, and on the perimeter of campus. Students living off-campus are eligible to purchase either a commuter parking permit or a discount parking permit only.

Resident Students: The resident permit allows parking in lots on campus identified by the letters seen immediately above. Resident student parking lots are located near the residential areas on campus. With the exception of first year resident students [students residing on the

Discount Permits: Discount permits allow parking in perimeter lots identified by the letter seen immediately above. Discount permits do not allow parking in any other lots on campus. The Discount parking lots provide readily available parking, and the Hurry ‘Cane Shuttle makes convenient stops at each of the Discount parking lots.
