Technology Bootcamp
In today's complex globalization environment, International Relations (IR) and Information Technology (IT) have become natural partners. IR and IT are both of global reach and share a global view. By ushering into existence the Information Age, IT has driven the process of globalization and IR, in the discipline that grapples with the theoretical and empirical implications of globalization.
IT has also changed the actual teaching/learning process itself in IR: the cross-disciplinary, cross-border nature of information and communication in the information age forces a new, nonlinear approach to teaching and learning that challenges the traditional teaching methods in place since the invention of print (Lantis et al 2000).
MAIA is on the cutting-edge of these changes and integrates technology throughout the curriculum. To ensure that you are equipped for success in your coursework and career in international administration, you’ll start MAIA in Technology Bootcamp.
This intensive six-day program, the UM Office Specialist (UMOS), is a certification course created by the University of Miami to establish a nationally recognized standard of business computer skills. UMOS is an intensive, hands-on computer course that trains, tests and certifies all the core skills for Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage and Outlook. All MAIA students and faculty are required to complete the UMOS program, which is paid for through a special MAIA technology scholarship. There is no cost to you for this valuable training.
