Curriculum

MPH/MAIA Dual Degree

The dual master’s degree in public health and international administration (MPH/MAIA) unites the innovative MAIA program with the world-class faculty at the University of Miami’s School of Medicine and gives students the specialist education they need to succeed in a career in the governmental, non-governmental or the business sectors. The dual degree program integrates social, economic, political, cultural, environmental, and ecological studies.

The field of international public health administration is an exciting and challenging one, dealing with the headline topics of the globalized world: emerging and re-emerging diseases, trade and food safety, bioterrorism, civil conflict, human-generated and natural disasters. Graduates will typically head for employment in The World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization, national public health organizations, the World Bank, the International Labor Organization, multinational and transnational corporations, and nongovernmental organizations that focus on public health issues.

Admission

Applicants must be admitted into the MPH and MAIA programs on a separate basis, based on the admissions requirements and procedures of each individual program. Acceptance by one program does not in any way indicate or guarantee acceptance by the other degree program. Both the MAIA and the MPH degree programs require the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) as part of the admissions package.

For students whose native language is not English, successful completion the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination is required.
