Mr. Paul M. Orehovec
Vice President for Enrollment Management
& Continuing and International Education
University of Miami
Make sure you thoroughly understand your organization's structure and traditions, then look far beyond the organizational charts in search of synergy. Think and dream together, take advantage of what everybody knows. Because when it is applied astutely and ethically, enrollment management helps a university fulfill its mission better than ever imagined.
A national leader in the emerging field of enrollment management, Paul M. Orehovec was instrumental in the creation of the nation's first graduate program in enrollment management in 1998. Known for his creativity and successful risk-taking, Orehovec introduced enrollment management more than 13 years ago to the University of Miami, which now is a virtual laboratory for EM. At Orehovec's Friday Enrollments Meeting, administrators and faculty from around the university converge to discuss issues affecting student achievement. The lively sessions are just one example of Orehovec's commitment to good communication and to spreading the responsibility for academic success to every level at the university. He serves regularly on the faculty of College Board workshops and has received many awards for professional activities, which include service as chairman of the CSS Council and of the CSS Assembly of the College Board. He has been a guest columnist for USA Today and The Chronicle of Higher Education, appeared on ABC's Good Morning America, testified before U.S. Congressional committees, and served as a consultant at many colleges and universities. Orehovec has published and presented extensively on issues affecting all areas of college and university enrollments.
