PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING OFFICE (PDTO) PURPOSE/MISSION

The Professional Development and Training Office exists to ensure professional development activities designed and implemented at the University of Miami meet or exceed research based standards for effective professional development. Effective professional development is defined as curriculum that meet the strategic initiatives of the University.

We will accomplish this by

providing performance consultations to organizational units (i.e. departments) in order to improve team related issues,

building the capacity of others to produce effective professional development,

setting the standards for effective professional development, trainers and facilitators,

monitoring the quality of professional development offerings,

taking a leadership role with our professional development partners,

marketing the PDTO services to the entire University of Miami community,

analyzing the PDTO generated professional development program data to show its impact.
