The Department of Multicultural Student Affairs offers a reliable support system for African, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American students. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is dedicated to helping students navigate the complexities of a diverse research university. |

| Staff members serve as academic advisors and provide counseling for students. Through a partnership with the Academic Resource Center, the department provides students with academic-based support services related to career planning, diagnostic testing, reading and study skills and tutoring. | ||

The department provides students with important information on educational programs, internships, graduate schools, and scholarship opportunities. The staff also advises and informally counsels multicultural student organizations, and is responsible for overseeing the Ronald A. Hammond Golden Drum Scholarship Program. |

When students, as individuals or as a group, are unable to address a concern sufficiently, staff members may intervene on their behalf. The staff helps the University maintain a high level of sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of students of diverse backgrounds. |
