Graduate Students
The Department of Multicultural Student Affairs supports African, Hispanic, Asian and Native American graduate students with their programs and events during the school year. In addition, the office provides various resources and information on graduate student organizations to assist new graduate students in their transition to the University of Miami.
Throughout the school year, MSA receives information on various scholarships and fellowship opportunities for graduate students. Black Graduate Student Association This organization serves as the voice for black graduate students at the University of Miami. The group meets once a month during the school year and coordinates various events for the black graduate student community. Black Graduate Student Reception The Black Graduate Student Reception is held once a semester to provide black graduate students and black faculty and staff an opportunity to meet and network during the school year. BGSA Newsletter This electronic newsletter is sent to all black graduate students once a month to share information on upcoming events and programs specifically for black graduate students. Information on scholarship and fellowship opportunities are included as they are sent to and identified by the Department of Multicultural Student Affairs. The newsletter is written by graduate students and is distributed by Multicultural Student Affairs. Uncovering Potential Leaders and Increasing Future Triumphs (UPLIFT) Program The UPLIFT mentorship program is designed to help undergraduate students the University of Miami and surrounding community by pairing them with multicultural graduate students who serve as a source of information, guidance, and support. This program allows graduate students to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate students. |
