CMP 507 (Section 98) and CMP 594 (Section 98): 3 or 6 credits, graduate or undergraduate
Program Dates: June 25 - August 6, 2008
Study British cinema at the University of Miami campus with Professor Capewell and follow up with its sequel at the University of Westminster in London with professor Talavera.
Now in its fourth successful year, this 6-credit curse features 2 ½ weeks of class work at the University of Miami from 10 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. daily from June 25 through July 11.
The second part of the course CMP 594, meets daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of Westminster, Harrow Campus, London, from July 13 through August 6. The course is taught by Professor Joost Hunningher and a host of special guests from the British film industry, who conduct seminars in scriptwriting, cinematography, sound and editing. The first week of the course is devoted to pre-production in which students can break into groups of four and create a script through extensive research and location scouting for a DIGITAL DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION on THE BRITISH DIFFERENCE.
During the second week, students in groups of four, with a British graduate assistant from the University of Westminster, go out on location around London and its environs to shoot their projects. The third week is devoted to post-production on high-end Media 100 editing components to create a final video that includes multiple sound tracks as well as state of the art visuals.
The Campus: Students are provided with private rooms with private bathroom during their stay at Westminster. The cost of the course also includes two meals daily (lunch and dinner). Each dorm area contains a common kitchen, which meets breakfast needs for students.
COST: $8,100 for 6 credits undergraduate tuition (estimated). There will be a travel package of TBA (estimated) that covers lodging in London, airport transfers, insurance, London Tube Pass, AIFS materials, orientation, administrative services, UK application fee and UK value added tax.
