The Bible and the Problem of Language |

A study of the nature of religious language as compared with other forms of spoken and written discourse, focusing on the Bible. This course will feature a close examination of texts from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) that raise controversial issues for understanding the Bible and its relation to other religious writings.
Topics include the extent to which it is possible to communicate religious experience, and problems in the expression of religious ideas such as ?God.? |
