The University of Miami, Division of Continuing and International Education has been awarded the Bernard Osher Foundation's Reentry Scholarship Grant for the second year in a row. We are one of 46 higher education institutions to receive this grant. The grant will enable us to significantly support the reentry of 20 students for the 2008-09 academic year, with each student receiving $2,500 to be applied to tuition costs. The selection will be a competitive process, with the eligibility requirements listed below.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Admitted to the Bachelor of General Studies Degree Program
- Students between 25-50 years old, who have interrupted college for several years, due to unforeseen circumstances
- Students with a strong sense of commitment to their studies
- Minimum 2.2 GPA (3.0 GPA to renew)
- Consistent progress toward degree*
- Enrolled for six credits for fall and spring semesters
Submission Requirements for New Applicants:
- Submission of Financial Aid Application (FAFSA).
The deadline for FAFSA is May 14, 2009Application Deadline for remaining items is June 15, 2009:
- Completed Osher Reentry Scholarship Application Form
- Admissions Statement (1-2 pages)
- 2 Letters of Recommendation (academic, personal or professional contacts)
- Resume
- Completed Enrollment Eligibility Agreement
Award Details:
- Annual award is $2500.00 ($1250 per semester)
- Renewal requires 3.0 GPA
- Students are required to enroll in two courses per semester
- Renewal requires consistent progress toward degree*
*Successful completion of 75% of coursework attempted

Current Osher Scholarship students (2008-09 academic year) are not required to submit the Admissions Statement, Letters of Recommendation, or Resume.
*Renewal requires a minimum GPA of 3.0
