University of Miami and the City of Miami Join Forces to Revitalize Civic Center Area
At a news conference on March 9, 2004 on the campus of the School of Medicine, President Shalala and City of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz kicked off the Miami Partnership, a major initiative to develop a plan to revitalize the Civic Center area. The University and the City want to help transform the Civic Center into a place where people come not only to work, receive world-class medical care, and seek help from government agencies, but where they can also live, raise families and enjoy a wide range of new amenities and services.
