Address the nature of stress and the coping processes that influence mental health and illness. Explore psychological and social factors that intensify and lessen stress effects. Identify important types of stressors and their effects. Stress and coping influences on anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and eating disorders are examined. Gain experience in using stress reduction techniques, including relaxation, cognitive restructuring, biofeedback, social skills training, and meditation.
