Dial-Up Canes Information

Student Remote Dial-Up Access Service

Dial-Up Canes is the University of Miami's remote dial-up access service available to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students.  This service provides reliable Internet and UM network connectivity to commuter students and students who are off-campus.  All that is needed is a computer with a modem.  You can surf the Internet, check e-mail, and do much more from anywhere by dialing into our modem access phone number.

Students can access Dial-Up Canes by dialing in via modem from their home or another remote location.  This service currently provides a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) connection with up to 56 Kbps connectivity.  To sign up for Dial-Up Canes, please click here.  Students can print out the Quick Start Guide for details on setting up Dial-Up Canes.

The phone number for student dial-up modem access is (305) 284-5595.

The University of Miami provides a similar remote dial-up service known as UM-PPP to faculty and staff.  For more information, please click here.
