This session covers the Bloodborne Pathogens, Biomedical Waste Disposal, Latex Allergy and Tuberculosis Control measures mandated by OSHA Regulations. The Bloodborne Pathogens-Biomedical Waste Disposal portion alerts you to how bloodborne diseases, primarily HIV, HBV, and HCV, are transmitted and how you can protect yourself against infection. Find out about procedures for post-exposure medical evaluation. In the Latex Allergy portion, you will learn about latex allergy and the follow-up procedures for individuals who develop allergy to latex products. The Tuberculosis portion focuses on how TB is transmitted and how to recognize signs and symptoms. Learn about the purpose and proper use of controls to prevent the spread of TB, such as medical surveillance, therapy, and post exposure follow-up.
Note: This training is required at time of the initial assignment to tasks where occupational exposure may take place and at least annually thereafter. Please note that Hepatitis B vaccine should be offered to employee within 10 working days of hire and prior to employee working with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
