Graduate Admission Application Checklist

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING GRADUATE ADMISSION APPLICATION CHECKLIST

 

All those wishing to take courses for graduate credit, whether or not they wish to become candidates for a degree, must apply for admission. The applicant’s file includes:

 

1. Appropriate electronic or paper application is submitted.

2. Application fee of $65.00 payable to the University of Miami. Electronic applications require a credit card payment.

 

3. Official transcripts of all previously taken college work, both undergraduate and graduate.*

 

4. The official score report of the appropriate entrance examination.*

 

5. All applicants must submit official recent (within five years of exam date) Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, which include the aptitude portion, as well as the most relevant advanced test in the major field if required by the department.

 

6. International applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or take the International English Language Testing System exam (IELTS) and submit official scores which are valid two years from the exam date. Please see the information below regarding the minimum score needed depending on the exam you take:

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking - for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

7. Three letters of recommendation are to be included and sent with completed application.

 

8. Completed applications including, official transcripts, official GRE scores and TOEFL/IELTS scores (if required), three letters of recommendation and a check for $65.00 can be sent to the Office of Admission, College of Engineering, P.O. Box 248294, Coral Gables, Florida 33124-0620, or if street address is required, to Office of Admission, College of Engineering, 1251 Memorial Drive, Coral Gables, Florida 33146-0620.

 

* Only official TOEFL and GRE scores sent by ETS are acceptable for admission review. Transcripts and other educational documents must be official and received in a sealed envelope.
