Compensation Plan Goals And Principles

The following goals and principles guide our compensation plan:

  • Enable the University to compete within its various markets for the retention and recruitment of talent
  • Allow for flexibility to reflect the unique needs and challenges of each campus
  • Ensure salary bands are regularly reviewed to ensure competitiveness
  • Ensure market competitiveness while maintaining equity/fairness
  • Provide career ladders to support professional growth and retention of talent
  • Develop policies that reflect the desired workplace:
    • Recognize changes in job responsibilities and/or skills of employee
    • Facilitate movement through salary band
    • Address atypical situations 
  • Support a culture of accountability and high performance
  • Create a system that is easy to implement and communicate
  • Transparency
  • Provide for pay adjustments based upon performance through regular, fair, and meaningful performance evaluations
  • Provide salary adjustments based upon demonstrated performance and contributions and fundability
  • Administration of the plan is without regard to race, gender, ethnicity, religion, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation or preference, disability, or age
