Email alias access starts with the University of Miami portal CaneLink. In order to set up your email forwarding service you will need to access your CaneLink account at canelink.miami.edu. If you do not recall ever using this portal select First time using CaneID? on the logon page. This will give you a short wizard to setup your account. If you do not remember your CaneID, select the Forgot your CaneID or Password?, this page will give you various options on recovering your CaneID. If you need additional assistance to log into CaneLink, please contact the UM Information Technology Help Desk by dialing 305-284-6565, option #2, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m; or send an email message to email@example.com.
Once you successfully log into CaneLink, click on Update Email Address under the Personal Information section on the CaneLink homepage. Here you will see your UM alias. You will also see your Preferred email address, this is/will be the email account where all email sent to your UM alias will be forwarded to.

Click here to access CaneLink. CaneLink is also available as a quick link from the main www.miami.edu website, located at the top right section of the web page. Select the First time using CaneID? link. Follow the instructions on the wizard to setup your account.
If you successfully logged into CaneLink and an email alias has not been assigned, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your name in the subject line, UM will then assign you a @miami.edu email alias.
Please note alias assignment may take between 24-48 hours after receipt of request.
