Where do I start?

Email alias access starts with the University of Miami portal myUM. In order to set up your email forwarding service you will need to access your MyUM account at www.miami.edu/myum. If you do not recall ever using this portal select the First time using CaneID on the logon page. This will give you a short wizard to setup your account. If you do not remember your CaneID, select the Manage your CaneID account, this page will give you various options on recovering your CaneID. If you need additional assistance to log into MyUM, please contact the UM Information Technology Help Desk by dialing 305-284-6565, option #2, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m; or send an email message to caneid@miami.edu.

What is my alias and where is it being forwarded to?

Once you successfully log into myUM, you will see your UM alias on the email information section on the MyUM homepage. You will also see your "Preferred e-mail address", this is/will be the email account where all email sent to your UM alias will be forwarded to.

I have successfully logged into myUM, but my profile does not have a UM alias assigned:

If you successfully logged into myUM and a UM alias has not been assigned, please email itsupportcenter@miami.edu with your name in the subject line and include in the body of the message your degree, graduating year and your 3 top choices of what you would like your UM alias to be i.e.
Choice 1: j.smith@umiami.edu
Choice 2: jsmith@umiami.edu
Choice 3: joe.smith@umiami.edu

Please note alias assignment may take between 24 - 48 hours after receipt of request.
