UMAA Members have a number of benefits available to make your return visit to campus more enjoyable and memorable

Alumni Cards

All graduates of the University of Miami are given a free lifetime membership in UM Alumni Association. The Alumni Card is your official alumni ID, providing you with access to special discounts and offers. Before you access these benefits, request a UM Alumni Card online. Please allow 3-5 weeks for your personalized Alumni Card to be mailed.

For alumni who live locally, UM offers a separate Alumni 'Cane Card, which provides alumni with access to the Otto G. Richter Library and the Wellness Center on the Coral Gables campus. To secure an Alumni 'Cane Card, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@miami.edu or 305-284-2872. Alumni 'Cane Cards can be picked up at the UM Department of Parking and Transportation located in the McKnight Building at 5807 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Suite 100. The first Alumni 'Cane Card is free; replacement cards cost $20.

Bill Cosford Cinema

University of Miami alumni get a discount ticket price for all movies at the Bill Cosford Cinema in the Memorial Building in the Coral Gables campus.  Tickets are $6 for all University of Miami alumni with valid Alumni 'Cane Card (see above). UM Bookstore

Don't hide your pride! The UM Bookstore, located in the Whitten University Center in the heart of campus, is your headquarters for all kinds of UM clothing, gifts, and spirit gear. University of Miami alumni get a 10% discount on merchandise (excluding text books) when they show their Alumni 'Cane Card for in-store purchases.

University Credit Union

Chartered in 1947, the University Credit Union is a full service, not for profit financial institution, offering top rate banking, lending, and investment services. Alumni of the University of Miami are eligible to open memberships in the University Credit Union.

Learn Again - Lifelong Learning Benefit

Being a Hurricane is something of which to be very proud. And your alma mater gives you one more reason to celebrate and appreciate your UM degree! The Alumni Rate Program, offered through the Division of Continuing and International Education, is the opportunity for holders of undergraduate, graduate, or professional UM degrees to take courses (on a space-available basis), in the College of Arts and Sciences at the special rate.

Alumni may select undergraduate Arts and Sciences courses only, and can only register in the two days prior to the first day of class. Registration closes if the class is within two spaces of full enrollment. Only two courses per discipline are allowed through the special rate program.

Miami magazine

Miami magazine is the award-winning publication of the University of Miami and its alumni. Published by the Division of University Communication, Miami magazine reaches out to almost 127,000 alumni and friends of the University, depicting the University as a dignified yet lively place. Miami magazine shows how the young and dynamic University has evolved into a major research and teaching institution.

Otto G. Richter Library

Alumni who either present valid photo identification with a current address and a University of Miami Alumni Association card or their Alumni 'Cane Card have full room use access at the Otto G. Richter Library, and are eligible for borrowing privileges at the cost of $50 per year. In order to have computer use access, you must obtain a temporary CaneID after entering the library at the circulation desk In addition, alumni who have registered on 'Cane Connections can access the Alumni Library Portal, which gives access to a wide variety of electronic journals and research resources. Toppel Career Center

The Toppel Career Center is committed to providing alumni with the opportunities and resources to get world-class career preparation. An effective career planning process can help you while you are beginning to change careers, advance in a chosen field, or find a career direction. The Toppel Career Center offers an array of career services that are available to alumni, as well as programs that can enhance your experience as you seek employment or admission to graduate school.

Registrar Services

The University of Miami Office of the Registrar provides a range of services for alumni, including providing transcripts, verification of enrollment/degree, and readmission to the university for continuing education or additional degree pursuit.

Wellness Center

The Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center is the premier fitness, recreation, and wellness facility located on the Coral Gables campus. Since opening in January 1996, the Herbert Wellness Center staff has welcomed thousands of members and guests every day. All alumni are eligible for membership (copy of diploma or Alumni ’Cane Card required) and have access to the many facilities and programs offered. Programs and services available to alumni members include free group exercise classes, wellness programs like cooking classes and free meditation classes, and instructional classes in activities like aquatics and tennis. Alumni are eligible to join some club sport organizations, but are not eligible to participate in intramural sports.
