Canes Career Club

The Canes Career Club is a job club for UM alumni and graduating students, and is provided by the Toppel Career Center and UM Alumni Relations. The Club is a supportive community for Canes who are unemployed, underemployed, looking for a better opportunity, or hoping to change careers. Graduate School

The University of Miami Graduate School has subscribed to The Versatile Ph.D., a Web-based community that provides career development resources and helps Ph.D. and ABD (all but dissertation) students and alumni explore non-academic career options as well as learn about career choices after graduation. The Launch Pad

The Launch Pad serves both beginning and experienced entrepreneurs, assisting with opportunity recognition, feasibility assessment, and strategy for starting and growing companies or non-profits. We specialize in just-in-time delivery of resources – what you need, when you need it. Toppel Career Center

Toppel Career Center offers several alumni career service resources through wwwHireACane.com, a web-based career management system, and the Launch Pad, a campus resource for entrepreneurs and inventors.

Eligibility for Services

UM alumni have full access to all Toppel services with the exception of Individual Career Advising. Individual Career Advising is free for alumni up to one year after graduation.

Afterward one year, there is a fee of $100 (includes five sessions), or $25 fee for a single one-hour individual advising session.

Tuesday with Toppel

A monthly networking event specifically designed for UM alumni to network with local employers while enjoying your favorite cocktails and appetizers.
