Summer Send-offs
The Summer Send-off Program is a University of Miami tradition that involves alumni or parents who host receptions for incoming UM freshmen and transfer students from their home town during the summer months. The receptions connect students with alumni and other students and make them feel a part of the University of Miami community before they even arrive on campus.

New and transfer students headed to UM attended the 2008 Los Angeles Summer Send-off hosted by Edward, B.S.E.E. ’72, M.D. ’75, M.S.B.E. ’01, and Joanne Dauer.
This year, 25 cities are hosting Summer Send-offs, allowing hundreds of University of Miami alumni and friends, parents and current and future students to meet, interact, and begin the University of Miami experience. Hosting a Summer Send-off is a great demonstration of generosity and love for the University as most of the cost, planning and promotion of the event is incurred solely by the host(s), and/or local alumni group.
