Senior Class Gift 2011

Bleed Orange. Give Green.

The TRADITION Starts with You!

The annual Senior Class Gift fundraising campaign is a student-led effort to generate scholarships for fellow 'Canes. Since 1992, the Senior Class Gift Committee has been dedicated to educating seniors about the importance of philanthropy, and creating significant funding for scholarships for rising-seniors. The University of Miami is well-known for its impressive diversity, but the Senior Class Gift campaign unites all seniors in commemorating their time at the U, as well as through their shared interest in supporting undergraduate education. The U is built on tradition, and this symbolic gift marks the beginning of a new tradition: staying connected to the U through philanthropic giving as an alum.

Where will my contribution go?

The campaign is an effort to raise necessary funds for the Senior Class Gift Scholarship Fund. This fund provides partial scholarships to rising-seniors with a need for financial support to afford their final year at UM. The Class of 2010 raised enough funds to provide nine partial scholarships to this year's seniors! We challenge you, Class of 2011, to surpass last year's record-setting totals and set the bar for future campaigns! In addition to the Senior Class Gift Scholarship Fund, students are able to support any part of the University, including the School or College from which they are graduating, the UM General Scholarship Fund, or UM's Greatest Needs.

Why should I give to Senior Class Gift?

By giving back to the Senior Class Gift Scholarship Fund, you are not only creating scholarships, but you are building a better future for your fellow 'Canes. Somewhere along the way, we all received some form of support that's helped us reach this point—on the brink of graduating from a world-class institution. Now it's our chance to give back.

In addition to helping out fellow students, by contributing to the Senior Class Gift Scholarship Fund, you are helping to increase the value of the degree you are about to receive! College rankings, like the U.S. News and World Report determine their rankings based on a number of factors, one of which being alumni participation to the Annual Fund. As a soon-to-be alum, your contribution will help UM continue to rise in those rankings. As UM rises, the degree you are about to earn becomes even more valuable!

How much should I give?

We are asking all graduating to seniors to make a symbolic gift of $20.11 to commemorate our graduation year. It might not seem like much, but if we all contribute to the campaign we can make a huge difference! If $20.11 is too much, don't sweat it! Every gift to the Senior Class Gift Scholarship Fund is valuable. Remember, alumni participation is what affects our rankings, so every gift positively impacts our rankings!

To show our gratitude for your participation in the campaign, all seniors who make a minimum gift of $10 will receive a commemorative UM keepsake tassel. Wear your tassel at graduation and show everyone that you truly love the U! Remember:

Bleed Orange. Give Green.
