New Members Join Alumni Relations Staff
We are pleased to welcome Sarah E. Rogers to the Alumni Relations Department as director of Alumni Programs (Campus Based). Sarah’s experience includes her most recent assignment as program director for the Junior Statesmen Foundation in San Mateo, California, where she coordinated the foundation’s statewide membership and chapters, and mentored top student leaders in six states. Sarah gained extensive experience working with volunteer committees, engaging community support, and managing events at the Smithsonian Institution, National Portrait Gallery from 2001-2005.
Sarah received a Bachelor of Science in Communication from the University of Miami in 2000, and has remained enthusiastically involved as a volunteer for the University since graduation. Sarah will be responsible for strategically managing all of the University’s campus based alumni outreach programs, including Alumni Weekend and Homecoming (Reunions), and Student Advancement. We are also pleased to welcome Denisa R. Canales, senior staff associate, for the Annual Fund team in the Alumni Relations Department. Denisa graduated from the University of Miami in May 2005, with a degree in Marine Science and Biology. During her time as a student, Denisa was awarded the Edward T. Foote Award for Excellence and Leadership, the F.G. Walton Smith Outstanding Marine Science Senior Award, and was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society. She has worked for the Office of Student Activities and Leadership at the University of Miami, the Miami Children’s Museum, and the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland.
