@Miami Commended by Public Relations Society
@Miami – The Monthly News Service for University of Miami Alumni and Friends was recently chosen to receive a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation by the Public Relations Society of America in the category of Multimedia Communications-newsletters. The Bronze Anvil awards were created in 1969 to recognize outstanding public relations tactics, the individual items or components of programs or campaigns. This year, 887 entries were submitted in 50 categories, with judges selecting 47 Bronze Anvil and 83 Award of Commendation winners.
@Miami was launched as the flagship University of Miami Alumni Association electronic publication in April, 2005. With just under 40,000 subscribers, @Miami brings the latest alumni achievements, university news, commentary, research and athletics directly to inboxes each month. @Miami has also been cited by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, District III, for special merit in electronic newsletters, and by the League of American Communications Professions with a 2005 Gold Spotlight Award for quality electronic publication.
The Public Relations Society of America, based in New York City, is the world's largest organization for public relations professionals. The Society has more than 28,000 professional and student members. PRSA is organized into 112 Chapters nationwide, 19 Professional Interest Sections, along with Affinity Groups, which represent business and industry, counseling firms, independent practitioners, military, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations.
