Alumna Dolores Chambreau Passes at Age 81
It is with much sadness that the University of Miami Alumni Association announces the passing of Dolores Jean Chambreau, B.S.N. '67.
Dolores was a loyal alumna and highly respected nursing leader who was very involved with the University and the UM Alumni Association. She served as a UM trustee from 1985-1987, and served on the advisory committee to establish a graduate nursing program at the University. In addition, she served as president of the UM Alumni Association from 1978-1979, and president of the UM School of Nursing and Health Studies Alumni Association from 1972-1973.
She was one of the first women to be admitted to UM's Iron Arrow, the University’s highest honor, granted to students, alumni, faculty, or staff who love the school and demonstrate high levels of character, leadership, scholarship, and humility.
Dolores and her beloved late husband, William J. Chambreau, were loyal ’Canes fans and generous benefactors of the University of Miami. Their estate will support the work of the School of Nursing and Health Studies and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dolores will forever remain a ’Cane in spirit and she will be missed by many.
A memorial service for Dolores Chambreau is this Saturday, September 16, from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Van Orsdel (4600 SW 8th).
