What is Alumni Weekend and Homecoming?
It is a campus–wide event that takes place once a year on the Coral Gables campus, and the one time each year that all 'Canes – students, alumni, faculty, staff, families and friends come together in celebration of the U!
When is Alumni Weekend and Homecoming?
Once the ACC football schedule is released in the spring and our Homecoming game is determined, then the Alumni Weekend and Homecoming dates are set. The weekend typically takes place in the fall during the late October or early November. This year Alumni Weekend and Homecoming will occur on October 30 – November 2, 2014 and the 'Canes will be taking on the University of North Carolina for the Homecoming game.
Why should I come to Alumni Weekend and Homecoming?
Alumni Weekend is truly a reason to celebrate! It is a time to return to your alma mater, reconnect with long–time friends, and relive your cherished University of Miami memories. It's a chance to see what all has changed with the campus, and to find out what amazing things are happening at the U!
What if my graduating class isn't celebrating a reunion?
All alumni are invited back to enjoy their favorite Alumni Weekend and Homecoming festivities. In addition to the reunion celebrations, other events include the Audrey R. Finkelstein UM Experience, Alumni Avenue, the Homecoming Parade, Pep Rally, Boat Burning, Fireworks, and affinity groups also host events during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming. There is definitely something for everyone, and new affinity groups are welcome!

How do I volunteer for my class reunion?
Each class reunion is coordinated by a Class Reunion Committee. To get involved with your reunion committee you may contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 1-866-UMALUMS (862-5867) or 305-284-2872. You may also visit your reunion page on our website to contact your Class Reunion staff liaison.

How can I register to attend events?
In order to better plan for everyone to attend, we encourage everyone to register in advance of the weekend so we know you're coming and can do our best to prepare for your arrival!
The following registration options are available once registration opens in late August:
- Online! Click on the Registration tab at www.miami.edu/alumniweekend and follow the steps to register online. Be sure to review the events you want to attend and have your payment information ready when you begin the registration process.
- Phone! Call the Office of Alumni Relations toll free at 1-866-UMALUMS (862-5867) or 305-284-2872.
- Mail! Tear out the registration form from the Alumni Weekend and Homecoming brochure (mailed in early fall to undergraduate reunion years) or download a registration form from our website. Fill out the information and mail to:

Once I register, will I receive a confirmation of my order?
Registration confirmations will be emailed within 48 hours of your registration. If you would like to receive your confirmation via mail, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 305-284-2872 or 1-866-862-5867, and ask to speak with a member of our Alumni Weekend & Homecoming team. Please allow up to one week for mailed confirmations. *Game tickets are not mailed and must be picked up during event registration with a valid ID.
Is there a cancellation policy?
All cancellations must be received on or before the published cancellation deadline each year to receive a full refund.
How is the cost of each event determined?
Putting on a weekend of events for 1,600 people is a large and expensive task. Your registration fee offsets a small fraction of the overhead that includes security, tents, marketing, tables and chairs, technical equipment, and other services.
The individual event prices offset the cost for food and beverages, service, set–up, entertainment, decorations, etc. We strive to keep the fees low so that as many people as possible can enjoy their alumni weekend of fun, renewed friendship, and celebration of the University of Miami experience.
How can I see who is coming back?
To find out who is already registered for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming, visit our website and click on the guest book button. Be sure to write a message and let your friends and fellow alumni know you are coming back!
Do you have to be a UM alumnus to attend Alumni Weekend and Homecoming?
Guests are welcome to register to attend! While we celebrate class reunions and all alumni, our extended Hurricane family is welcome and encouraged to join in the festivities!
Can guests pay at the door if they don't register in advance?
Yes. However, we encourage guests to make reservations in advance in order to accommodate everyone who is attending the event in terms of food, space, giveaways, etc.

Where can I find travel details and maps to get to campus?

Is there a list of recommended or discounted hotels for alumni?
Yes. Visit our travel information page to view a list of hotels providing special Alumni Weekend and Homecoming rates.
Where can I park once I am on campus?
Printable on–campus parking passes for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming guests will be mailed or emailed with the confirmation packet. The on–campus parking passes are valid for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming dates only. Please see additional notes listed on the permit.
The Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center is your alumni "home away from home" so you are welcome to park at the center and take our campus shuttles or walk from there. Our address is 6200 San Amaro Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33146.
Where do I go once I arrive on campus?
Registration opens 30 minutes prior to the start of each event.* Your registration materials will be available at the entrance of each event you are registered for. Your nametag will serve as your ticket to some events and may be required to access campus buildings you wish to visit, so be sure to keep your nametag with you all weekend!
A campus map will be included in your confirmation materials. Additional information may be available from participating affinity groups and schools and colleges that are also hosting events.
