Homecoming Pregame

Event Cost: $25 general admission / $20 UM employees, students, and children 3-12 / Free for children 2 and under
Join your fellow ’Canes at the biggest pregame party in town. Enjoy fabulous food, beverages*, and a special pep rally with music from WVUM, as we prepare to cheer our team on to victory over the Virginia Cavaliers. The annual pregame festivities will feature UM football star and alumnus Bennie Blades, the Grand Marshal of Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.
Blades played a big part in the University of Miami's winning the 1987 NCAA National Championship. In that same year, he won the Jim Thorpe Award, honoring the top defensive back in College Football. In 2006, he was named to the College Football Hall of Fame for his time at the University of Miami.
During his play at UM, he and the defensive secondary he led were nicknamed "Bennie and the Jets," for their speed, power, ability & stand-out defensive play. After his time at the University of Miami, Blades entered the 1988 NFL Draft and spent ten seasons in the NFL playing for the Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks.
Alumni may purchase tickets for the pregame celebration or Homecoming Pregame Packages, which include the pregame celebration and the game. Space is limited, so please register early! Roundtrip shuttle service is available; see Travel Info for shuttle schedule.
