UM Alumni Association Homecoming Pregame Celebration
With more than 450 guests in attendance, the UM Alumni Association Homecoming Pregame Celebration was a great success! The event was fun and as always a true ’Cane spirited gathering, kicking off what was a great win against the Duke Blue Devils!
Guests enjoyed reminiscing and reconnecting with friends, fabulous food and a spirited pep rally along with the Cheerleaders, Band of the Hour, Sebastian, and remarks and presentations from several special guests: President Shalala, Honorary Alumna ’02; John Calles, A.B. ’89, .D. ’92; Philip Corey, Honorary Alumnus ’11; Shawn Eichorst, Director of UM Athletics, K.C. Jones, Former player (1993-1996), and Incoming President, Hall of Fame.
Following the Pregame Celebration, the Miami Hurricanes made the 2011 Homecoming Game a day to remember with an impressive 49-14 victory over the Duke Blue Devils. The ’Canes matched their highest point total in an ACC game since beating Virginia 52-17 in the 2009 Homecoming Game. It was a total team effort with QB Jacory Harris throwing for three touchdowns and RB Lamar Miller adding two touchdowns on the ground. Miller finished with 147 yard rushing, increasing his rushing total to 1,106 for the season and becoming UM’s first 1,000+ yard rusher since 2002.
