Alumni Weekend Event Schedule
Thursday, November 5
5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
50th and Old Timers (SUPERCANES) Reunion
BankUnited Center, Hurricane 100 Room
Let’s kick up our heels and raise our glasses to the rich UM history you
helped create! Picture yourself at an amazing evening filled with music,
memories, and more! Remember dinks, “M” club dances, Carni Gras, the launching
of “Alumnic” just to name a few? We’ll celebrate all 1926 – 1959 graduates,
honor the 50th Reunion Class of 1959, induct members of the class of 1958
into the Old Timers (SUPERCANES) Society, and dance the night away among
friends new and old. This will be a night to remember!
The Old Timers Society was started in 1975 by the late Ruth Linder Sutton, A.B. ’30, and was first celebrated at the home of Dr. Bowman Foster Ashe. Helene Putnam Kichefski, B.B.A. ’42, chairperson for 22 years, successfully guided this group – a tradition that continues today, and in recent years the nickname “SUPERCANES” has emerged.
