The CCAS is an unmatched resource for the exploration
and advancement of Cuban and Cuban-American history
and culture. The center provides a number of academic
programs, publications, and research to both students
and the local community. ICCAS also acquires or
encourages the acquisition of relevant books,
documents, collections, and other materials for
the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University
of Miami Otto G. Richter Library. There are philanthropic
opportunities at the center:
Courses: In addition to its regular
academic offerings, the Institute sponsors non-credit
seminars and courses for the community.
Annual Symposium on Cuba: A major
conference on Cuban Studies held every fall semester.
Past themes include national identity, religion
and the state in Cuba.
Lecture Series: Programs featuring
noted speakers on both current and historical
topics.
Cuba Briefing Breakfast Series:
Monthly event featuring special guests to discuss
critical issues related to Cuba and Cuban topics
(by invitation only).
Luncheons/ Seminars: Monthly
series focusing on current topics.
Film Series: Annual Cuban film
festival co-sponsored by ICCAS and the Bill Cosford
Cinema (fall semester)
Music Festival: ICCAS sponsors two Cuban musical
events annually, one classical and one popular
music.
