Clinical Research Building with fifteen floors and 338,000 square feet of space.
Future site of Basic Science Research Building with seven floors and 144,000 square feet of space.
A new Basic Science Research Building, adjacent to the Schoninger Research Quadrangle, with seven floors and 144,000 square feet of space, will offer one of the most important and prominent naming opportunities available on the UM/JM Medical Center campus.. At $58 million, this naming opportunity is reserved for a philanthropist who will provide a substantial gift commensurate with the cost of the building. The attendant signage at the top of the building will be visible from all directions, including from SR 836 and I-95.

The architecture will reflect the School of Medicine's vision for the future of basic science research in two ways. First, the building will contain core lab facilities that emphasize collaborative, interdiscliplinary research among a number of departments and centers across the medical campus. Second, the research conducted in this building will reflect the School of Medicine's basic science priorities.

Floors

Each floor will have a unique naming opportunity associated with research programs conducted by physician scientists who are leaders in their field and well-funded through competitive grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and others. Each floor will have16,000 square feet of space and the naming opportunity is available for $5 million.. Donor recognition will be significant - name(s) will be prominently displayed in the main lobby of the building and in the entrance area of the named floor.

Research Pavilions

Each floor will contain core lab facilities with adjacent research labs, faculty offices and other program areas associated with a particular research endeavor - these areas will be referred to as Research Pavilions. For example, a floor may be designated for the Neurosciences and split between an Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Research Pavilion. Each Pavilion could be named for $2,500,000. The donor would have prominent recognition in the entrance area of the floor, as well as at the main entrance area of the Research Pavilion.

Conference Rooms

Each floor will have a large conference room adjacent to the entrance area for each floor, for faculty and staff to gather for peer- reviewed presentations and other seminal academic activities, as well as for meetings with external audiences. The average size of the room will be 200 square feet and a naming opportunity is available for $100,000 - recognition would be prominent outside of the Conference Room and visible to all who enter that floor.

Director's Offices

The Director's Offices are reserved for senior faculty leading research at each of the Research Pavilions -- average size of 180 square feet. A naming opportunity is available for $100,000 and recognition will be displayed at the entrance to the office.
