(Below) Wellness Center Atrium.

A major component of the Clinical Research Building complex will be the 60,000 square foot Wellness Center. Designed to improve the health of the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Medical Center's 16,000 physicians, nurses, students, residents, fellows and staff, the Center will include exercise equipment and classes and illness prevention and management education. Developing such a facility will produce a healthier workforce, with attendant economic, productivity and morale benefits while at the same time lowering the health cost burden. The Wellness Center will cost $14.3 million to build and a naming opportunity is available for $7.5 million.  Click here to watch a virtual tour video of the Wellness Center.

Amenities

  • Facility Endowment
An endowment fund would provide a permanent source of funds for the Wellness Center to initiate and sustain wellness research and develop programs that would maximize the education, fitness and prevention programs ensuring a healthy workforce and work environment.
  • Atrium
The entrance to the Wellness Center is a 2,000 square foot Atrium with a reception area, food court, floating stairway to the second floor and one wall with full-length windows looking out over Miami.  The naming opportunity for the Atrium is available for $1 million.
  • Open Fitness Area
At 7,125 square feet, the “Open Fitness Area” is by far the largest space in the entire Wellness Center and is located on two floors. The Open Fitness Area has a wall of windows two stories high and the second floor space looks out over the first floor. This will be the most heavily used area of the facility.  A naming opportunity will be available for $1 million.

A Therapy Pool will be used for both therapy and recreational swimming (with a current of water to swim against and facing a wall with a large window and view of Miami). Two sets of sauna, steam and whirlpool rooms lead off of the pool toward the respective locker areas. A Spa Services Area includes four rooms for massage and spa therapy. Multi-Purpose Rooms and a Spinning Room will accommodate exercise classes and other health-related activities. Naming opportunities available:  $250,000 for the Therapy Pool and $50,000 each for the sauna, steam and whirlpool rooms; $250,000 for the Spa Services Area and $50,000 each for the massage and spa therapy rooms; $250,000 each for the Multi-Purpose Rooms and $100,000 for the Spinning Room.
