Betty G. Amos (BBA'73, MBA'76), chair
Betty G. Amos has far-reaching UM involvements:
A dual-degreed Hurricane—she earned a
BBA in 1973 and an MBA in 1976—she has
served two-terms as president of the University
of Miami Alumni Association (UMAA), a Business
School Mentor, and is a member of the University’s
Board of Trustees. She is also active on the
University’s Citizens Board, Alumni Golf
Tournament, Beta Alpha Psi (Honorary), Miami
Alumni Club, Phi Kappa Alpha (Accounting), Phi
Kappa Phi, the President’s Council, the
Women's Endowment Committee, and the 25th Reunion
Committee.
Ms. Amos is a Fuddruckers franchisee and president
and owner of The Abkey Companies, which ranked
number 470 of the largest women-owned companies
in Working Woman magazine in 1998. In recognition
of her business and community leadership, she
was honored at the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade
County's “My She-ro” Luncheon in
2001 and was profiled in Miami Metro magazine's
"101 Women to Watch: Miami-Dade's Most
Influential Females of 2001." Her professional
and volunteer leadership has trained her well
for her next commitment—that of campaign
chair for the UMAA’s new Alumni Center.
The vision of the 70,135 square-foot Alumni
Center is to serve as a multi-use facility,
a home away from home, a place for visiting,
for working, for celebrating, and for remembering.
