Barbara Havenick’s ties to the University of Miami
are a family matter. An alumna twice over, she
received a bachelor’s degree from UM in American
Studies in 1972, going on to earn a juris doctorate
in 1975. Her mother, Florence Hecht, is a UM Trustee
Lifetime Member, and both Hecht Residential College
and the Hecht Athletic Center on the Coral Gables
campus are named in honor of her family. Her
husband, Fred Havenick, is a member of the
University’s Citizen’s Board. And her four children—Izzy,
Jennifer, Alex and Michael—have either graduated,
are attending, or hope to attend UM. A member of
the University of Miami Board of Trustees, Mrs.
Havenick was active on the Hausler Chair Committee,
which raised funds for an endowed chair honoring
esteemed Law School professor, Richard Hausler. She
is also a member of the President’s Council.
Mrs. Havenick is a general partner in Hecht
Properties, Ltd., a property leasing company based
in Miami; a partner of West Flagler Associates, the
corporate entity for Flagler Greyhound Park;
president and director of Isabar Acquisition Corp.;
and vice president of Fortune Travel, Inc.
