Edward Dauer, a University of Miami trustee who,
along with his brother, Roger (B.B.A. '66, M.Ed.
'72), and his family, has given millions of dollars
to the University of Miami. Their generosity has
supported the Richter Library, the Convocation
Center, Athletics, the College of Engineering,
the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and student
scholarships.
The first UM undergraduate to study biomedical
engineering, Dr. Dauer has had a distinguished
career in diagnostic radiology. Today, he is president
of Florida Medical Services, Inc., and a founding
board member of one of the largest group practices
in Florida. He also was on the Florida State Board
of Medicine for eleven years and served two terms
as its chairman. The father of six has also served
as a clinical associate professor of radiology
at the School of Medicine, a research associate
professor in the College of Engineering, a member
of the President’s Council, and a member of the
Medical Dean Leadership Cabinet. In 2002, he received
the Henry King Stanford Alumnus of the Year Award
for his ongoing dedication to the University of
Miami.
