ABOUT UNIVERSITY VILLAGE

After many years of planning, the University Village student residential community is becoming a reality. The University of Miami, in an effort to enhance on-campus living and student life, has developed a residential apartment-village for upperclass and graduate students to reside on the Coral Gables campus. The project is scheduled for completion by 2006.

University Village philosophy is to preserve the campus and Coral Gables community with green space, styled apartments and parking around landscaped courtyards.

Located in the vicinity of Red Road and Brescia Avenue, University Village will include:

  • A residential village community for an estimated 800 upperclass and graduate students;
  • A green space plan that blends in with the neighboring area and preserves the existing landscaping around the perimeter of the University;
  • Residential styled-buildings comprised of two to four stories;
  • Parking structures
  • All streets will remain open
  • Community assistants residing in the student village and on-site property management; and,
  • Additional security and public safety officers designated specifically for the residential village.

The original plan for University Village was approved by the City of Coral Gables in 1991. It has been part of the University’s master plan (UMCAD) since 1992. The new plan was approved in May of 2004.

The University of Miami looks forward to the approval of this enhanced University Village plan designed for student life and a community appreciated by all.
