January 11, 2013This historic collaboration between the Adrienne Arsht Center, the University of Miami Frost School of Music, and YoungArts will present a mix of orchestral stylings and jazz improvisations by a superstar roster including legendary vocal innovator and ten-time Grammy winner Bobby McFerrin, acclaimed American bass-baritone and 1988 YoungArts alumnus Eric Owens, multi-Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer/arranger and pianist Dave Grusin, and versatile violin virtuoso Mark O’Connor. The performance will also feature the University of Miami’s Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, featuring Grammy-winning trumpeter, film composer, 1981 YoungArts alumnus, and institute artistic director Terence Blanchard (pictured), along with other YoungArts alumni. Co-produced and directed by Larry Rosen, with University of Miami Frost School of Music Dean Shelly Berg serving as music director and special guest pianist, this extraordinary music event will mark the first time that these three major Miami-based arts and educational institutions join forces to create one unforgettable program. -
